Joan Yudelson, MBA, CFP®
Vice President, Professional Practice
As Vice President, Professional Practice, Joan manages education strategy and requirements, and technical content development. She is also responsible for FPSC’s financial planning standards and enforcement activities, overseeing investigation, prosecution and resolution of complaints against CFP® professionals.
In conjunction with Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF), Joan has been instrumental in developing the Canadian Financial Planning Definitions, Standards and Competencies, a unified set of definitions, standards and competencies for individuals holding the CFP and Pl. Fin. designations and the definitive source for what to expect of financial planners across the country.
First joining FPSC in 2010 as Director of Education, Joan was responsible for upholding education standards and setting and implementing FPSC education requirements. She also oversaw FPSC’s flagship Educator Conference and played a lead role in the development of the CFP Professional Competency Profile and a comprehensive series of financial planning case studies.
Joan has over 20 years of experience within the financial services industry in the areas of training and development and financial planning with RBC Dominion Securities, Royal Bank and CIBC Imperial Service.
A CFP professional, Joan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) degree from Concordia University and an MBA from York University. She also holds a Certificate in E-Learning from the University of Toronto and is a certified Canadian Training and Development Professional.
