Joan Yudelson, MBA, CFP®
Vice President, Professional Practice
As Vice President, Professional Practice, Joan manages education strategy and requirements, as well as technical content development. She is also responsible for FPSC’s financial planning standards and enforcement activities, overseeing investigation, prosecution and resolution of complaints against CFP professionals and FPSC Level 1® Certificants in Financial Planning.
In conjunction with Institut québécois de planification financière (IQPF), Joan has been instrumental in developing the Canadian Financial Planning Definitions, Standards and Competencies, the definitive source of what to expect of individuals holding the Pl. Fin. and CFP designations across the country, as well as the Projection Assumption Guidelines, which aid Financial Planners in making financial projections that are free from potential financial planner biases or predispositions.
Joan is also Executive Director of the Financial Planning Foundation (FP Foundation), founded by FPSC and IQPF to improve Canadians’ lives through better financial planning. The FP Foundation funds, promotes and disseminates groundbreaking research to help financial planning professionals meet the increasingly complex needs of today’s clients.
Joan has more than 20 years of experience within the financial services industry in the areas of training and development and financial planning with RBC Dominion Securities, Royal Bank and CIBC Imperial Service.
A CFP professional, Joan holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) degree from Concordia University and an MBA from York University. She also holds a Certificate in E-Learning from the University of Toronto and is a certified Canadian Training and Development Professional.
