The fourth step to obtaining Certified Financial Planner® certification is to complete an FPSC-Approved Capstone Course. When you’ve accomplished that, you’ll qualify to write the CFP® examination.
If you’re an FPSC Level 1® Certificant in Financial Planning, an FPSC-Approved Capstone Course qualifies for the equivalent of two years of CE requirements.
You must successfully complete the CFP examination within four years (or four attempts) of successfully completing an FPSC-Approved Capstone Course. If you are not successful on the exam within four years (or four attempts), you will need to successfully repeat the Capstone Course.
You may also complete it prior to writing the FPSC Level 1 examination.
