CFP Examination Candidates Recognized for Top Performance

President’s List honours Canada’s highest scorers

TORONTO, ON – March 1, 2019 – Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) has announced the members of the esteemed President's List for the November 2018 sitting of the CFP® examination. The President’s List recognizes candidates who achieved the highest marks out of hundreds of exam writers from across Canada.

The new President’s List honourees are:

  • Christopher Ferris – Ottawa, ON (1st place)
  • Jennifer Armstrong – Vernon, BC (2nd place)
  • Haiyan Wang – Burnaby, BC (3rd place)

These individuals were recognized from a total of 563 candidates who wrote the final, standardized national CFP examination. That’s the highest number of candidates since FPSC implemented enhanced requirements for CFP certification in 2010.

“The CFP examination is a challenging endeavor that assesses candidates’ ability to apply their technical knowledge to highly complex financial planning scenarios,” says FPSC President and CEO Cary List. “Congratulations to these three individuals for their exceptional performance on this examination.”

To qualify to write the six-hour CFP examination, candidates must have first successfully completed an FPSC-Approved Core Curriculum education program, the FPSC Level 1® Examination in Financial Planning and an FPSC-Approved Capstone Course. Successful CFP examination candidates with three years of relevant work experience are then eligible to apply for CFP certification, the only globally recognized mark of financial planning professionalism.

President’s List recipients will be recognized at the Celebration of the Profession Dinner at the Sheraton Centre Toronto, taking place on November 19, 2019 as part of Financial Planning Week. Tickets to this event will be available in September.

Examinations on the path to CFP certification are offered twice per year in locations across Canada. The next FPSC Level 1 examination will take place on June 6 and the next CFP examination will take place on June 7. Registration is available here.
