Austin, TX – November 9, 2018 - Cary List, President and CEO of Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC), has been selected as the 2018 recipient of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence’s (ICE) Credentialing Industry Leadership Award. List was presented with the award at a recognition event that took place this morning as part of ICE’s annual conference in Austin, Texas.
The Credentialing Industry Leadership Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated innovative leadership in the credentialing and/or licensure industry by developing, implementing and researching programs or practices.
List has dedicated much of his career to promoting the important role of credentialing in ensuring financial planners meet high standards of proficiency, ethics and professionalism in serving their clients. He has spent the past 12 years as President and CEO of FPSC, a professional standards-setting and certification body working in the public interest. In this role, List has worked tirelessly to promote the importance of Certified Financial Planner® certification in advancing professional financial planning for the benefit of consumers.
List has been a dedicated volunteer with ICE for many years. He served six years on the Board of ICE, including as President of ICE’s Board in 2012 and currently serves on the ICE’s Accreditation Council, a strategic advisory council to the ICE Board.
“Certification programs play such an important role in ensuring quality practice in many professions. ICE has, and continues to be, such an excellent organization for sharing common issues for learning from peers in the certification industry, across multiple professions,” says List. “It’s been a great pleasure to give back to ICE over the years, as I have learned so much being a part of this community, and it’s a great honour to be recognized for those contributions.”
ICE, based in Washington, D.C., is a professional membership association that provides education, networking and other resources for organizations and individuals who work in and serve the credentialing industry. ICE is a leading developer of standards for both certification and certificate programs and it is both a provider of and a clearing house for information on trends in certification, test development and delivery, assessment-based certificate programs, and other information relevant to the credentialing community.
