TORONTO, ON – September 21, 2017 – Financial Planning Standards Council (FPSC) has announced the results of the Fellow of FPSC nominations for 2017. Dawn Hawley, CFP® has been selected as the only recipient of this distinction for 2017. Created in 2011, this lifelong distinction recognizes individuals who have helped advance FPSC's purpose and advance CFP professional standards, and who have embodied these standards throughout their careers.
Hawley, a Financial Planner with the Angus Watt Advisory Group – National Bank Financial in Edmonton, has more than 35 years of experience in the financial planning profession. With a longtime passion for the profession, Hawley has advocated for rigorous standards through a variety of her professional and volunteer activities. Among other achievements, she most recently served as Chair of the FPSC Board of Directors from 2015 to 2017, serving eight years as a Board member in total. Hawley also served on FPSC’s Professional Practice Working Group, which played a key role in the development of the Financial Planning Body of Knowledge for FPSC Level 1® Certificants in Financial Planning and CFP professionals. Fellow of FPSC recipients are recognized by a committee of their peers for their contributions, which include long-standing and exemplary service through volunteerism that advances FPSC’s purpose to drive value and instill confidence in financial planning, and which may include other activities such as:
- Promotion of financial planning and Certified Financial Planner® certification as the profession of choice to the next generation;
- Significant involvement in FPSC’s examinations development process;
- Direct or broad support of the CFP designation within the financial planning industry;
- Involvement in development of practice standards; and/or
- Extensive promotion of financial planning and CFP certification to Canadians on a grassroots level.
Hawley will be awarded with the Fellow of FPSC at FPSC’s Celebration of the Profession Dinner at the Toronto Reference Library, taking place on November 21 as part of Financial Planning Week.
