While many students may choose to pursue the QAFP designation on the path to CFP certification, unlike FPSC Level 1 certification, QAFP certification will be a distinct standalone designation and will not be a requirement on the new path to CFP certification.
Overall, the cost and time to complete the path to QAFP certification is comparable to the path to FPSC Level 1 certification.
There are two new education requirements for QAFP certification: Introduction to Professional Ethics and QAFP Professional Education Program (QAFP PEP), which will be offered by FP Canada™ through the FP Canada Institute™. QAFP PEP must be completed within one year of QAFP certification; however, candidates may choose to take QAFP PEP before sitting the QAFP examination (upon completion of IPE and Core Curriculum).
In addition, unlike FPSC Level 1 certification, one year of relevant work experience is required for QAFP certification.
