Effective January 1, 2020, the professional education programs are mandatory for students on the path to QAFP certification or CFP certification.
Existing FPSC Level 1® certificants who automatically become QAFP professionals on January 1, 2020, and FPSC Level 1 exam candidates who pass the November 2019 examination will be required to complete IPE, plus QAFP PEP or CFP PEP, by July 31, 2021 in order to maintain QAFP certification.
Candidates who wrote the FPSC Level 1 exam prior to 2020, but were unsuccessful, will be required to follow the new path to QAFP certification.
Existing CFP professionals will not be required to complete IPE or the new Professional Education Programs.
CFP exam candidates who have passed the CFP Examination prior to January 2020, will not be required to complete IPE or the new Professional Education Programs, provided they attain CFP certification within four years of passing the CFP examination.
Candidates who wrote the CFP exam prior to 2020, but were unsuccessful, can continue to challenge the CFP exam subject to completing IPE and subject to education currency and exam attempt limits.
