Effective April 1, 2019, the FP Canada Standards Council division will assume responsibility for establishing and enforcing financial planning standards and certifying financial planners that FPSC conducts currently. Certificants will continue to be held to the same standards as they are today. For candidates pursuing certification, the FP Canada Standards Council will assume authority over examinations and certification decisions.
CFP® certification and QAFP™ certification will be granted by FP Canada and will be based on the certification standards set by the FP Canada Standards Council.
All FP Canada certificants will benefit from the tools, resources and supports that will be developed by the FP Canada Institute, to help them in their practices. The full suite of tools and resources will be developed with the guidance and counsel of professional financial planners and industry firms and will be announced and rolled out in the months and years to come.
